가톨릭의 267대 레오 14세 교종이 2025년 5월 8일 목요일 콘클라베에서 선출되었기에 축하드립니다. 세상방식이 아닌 새로운 존재방식을 제시하는 교종은 매우 무거운 자리이지만 하늘의 은총을 세상의 복으로 부어주는 복있는 자리입니다.
특히 전쟁과 빈곤, 분열과 대규모 이주와 기후위기 등으로 인류가 위기에 직면해 있는 세상에 레오14세 교종의 영적인 리더쉽이 매우 필요합니다. 하늘의 은총으로 이루어진 가톨릭과 성공회와의 우정이 지속적으로 이어지길 바라며 더 깊은 사랑의 관계가 되길 바랍니다.
취약하고 단단하지 않은 시대에 주님이 우리에게 오셔서 우리에게 위로와 희망을 주신 것처럼 하느님과 인간이 관계를 맺는(요한 10:30) 희망으로 세상을 이끌어주시기를 바랍니다. 아멘.
Congratulations on the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church, at the conclave held on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The papacy is a deeply burdensome role, not by the standards of the world but as a witness to a new way of being. Yet it is also a blessed office, through which the grace of heaven is poured out as blessing upon the world.
In a world facing profound crises—war and poverty, division, mass migration, and climate emergency—the spiritual leadership of Pope Leo XIV is deeply needed. May the friendship between the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion, which has been formed by divine grace, continue to flourish and grow into a deeper relationship of love.
In this fragile and uncertain time, may the Lord who comes to us bring comfort and hope, just as God and humankind are united in relationship (John 10:30). May Pope Leo XIV lead the world in hope. Amen.
